The Effects Of Fossil Fuels On The Health Of The General...

Fossil fuels are necessary for our country to be kept alive. Natural gas, Coal, and oil are very important resources that we use a daily bases to run almost everything you see. Nearly 90% of our country runs of fossil fuels that are non-renewable. The problem with this is that there are cost and effects to using these fossil fuels. Cost of paying for the jobs needed to change these fossil fuels into energy is a very big cost that comes out of every Americans pocket. To pay for these cost we have electricity bills, water bills, gas bills that do not nearly cover the cost to actually make the energy. Some cost we do not notice until it is too late. Fossil fuels have many effects on the health of the general population. When burning fossil†¦show more content†¦Flora and fauna can be affected greatly as well. Extreme droughts can happen to farmers which would cause our only source of food to collapse. Global warming could affect every aspect of life for us. Using the current met hods of burning fossil fuels is polluting our water and oxygen. There have been multiple instances of oil spills happening on our coast due to the extraction process of oil being flawed. Mining for coal also has effects on our land. After the earth is mined for coal, it is left bare and there is no real hope for it ever to be brought back from this empty state. Everything that is brought up when mining for coal is left and forgotten at the top of the soil. This ruins the topsoil and it is useless after mining. These problems can be easily solved with more research on how to clean the environment after mining for these resources (Rissman 3).City dumps are a good example of how we pollute the earth with our trash. The government tries planting grass and other things to reverse this pollution; but in the end it is not going to help. Many people believe we are running out of fossil fuels but the truth behind it is we have never run out of the resources that we have needed in the past. When we almost ran out of whale oil for lamps we found petroleum. When we became low on copper we started using fiberglass for the things that could only be created with copper. When
